Official Vilnius welcomes signing of RA-Turkish Protocols
Lithuania welcomes signing of Armenian-Turkish Protocols on normalization of diplomatic ties and opening of border, Lithuanian FM Vygaudas Uackas told a joint news conference with his Armenian colleague Edward Nalbandyan.
Lithuanian official also reiterated his country's support to continuing Armenian-Azerbaijani dialogue, expressing hope that negotiation process would lead to Karabakh conflict settlement.
"That's an important and sensitive issue both for Yerevan and Baku, as well as the entire region," he stressed.
With regard to Georgian- and Lithuanian-proposed 3+3 format comprising the Caucasian and Baltic states, Uackas said it was open for Turkey.
"Turkey plays a key role in the region. The 3+3 format is not currently in effect, but if positive processes in the region continue, the 3+3+1 may work," said Lithuanian FM.
The 3+3 format comprises the 3 Caucasian countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia) and the 3 Baltic states (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia).
