ARMENIAN PARLIAMENTARIANS CONSIDER PRESIDENT'S BODYGUARD'S VERDICT UNFAIR
At the briefing held in the National Assembly today the representatives of the parliamentary factions and deputy groups expressed dissatisfaction with the sentence pronounced by the court concerning the country President's bodyguard Aghamal Harutyunian recognized guilty in killing Georgian citizen Poghos Poghosian due to carelessness. As we have already reported, the murderer is sentenced to two years of criminal penalty. Leader of «Dashnaktsutyun» party Aghvan Vardanian stated that his party considered the court verdict too light. He expressed confidence that the sentence would be reviewed in the court of appeal. The Communist party faction is also displeased with the sentence. Communist Party of Armenia Chairman Frunze Kharatian stated that the trial on the case resembled a show. The members of «Unity» faction do not agree with the verdict either. The faction leader Galust Sahakian stressed that the public would not accept the sentence passed.
