AZERBAIJANI PARLIAMENT INTENDS TO EVALUATE 1988 SUMGAIT EVENTS
As «Turan» Baku agency informs, Azerbaijan's milli mejlis will hold a special meeting «to consider and to evaluate the 1988 Sumgait events» till February 20. It is noted that representatives of the ministry of national security of Azerbaijan will be invited to participate in the meeting. Deputy Fazail Agamali suggested holding the meeting on the occasion of the 10 anniversary of the tragedy in Khodjali. In the reference on the events in February 1988 of «Turan » agency is stated the following: «26 citizens of Armenian origin were killed during the mass disorders in Sumgait. Scores of people were wounded, hundreds of flats were robbed and burnt. When sub-units of the Soviet Army were entering the city, 10 Azeri were killed».
