STEPANAKERT NEED NOT AVOID DISCUSSION OF KARABAKH PROBLEM IN CEJanuary 18, 2002 - 23:05 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Appearing at the press conference held in Yerevan today NKR Foreign Minister Naira Melkumian stated official Stepanakert need not avoid discussion of Karabakh conflict in the Council of Europe. Just the opposite, she considers that Strasbourg hearings of questions concerning settlement of Armenian-Azeri confrontation let the Karabakh side to bring its irreproachable in legal sense arguments to the notice of the Europeans. At the same time the Minister reminded that only OSCE Minsk Group is competent to come out with concrete initiatives on the conflict settlement. All other organizations can only participate in peacemaking process indirectly.![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
