PROBLEMS IN AZERBAIJAN RELATIONS WITH CE MADE KARABAKH ARGUMENTS MORE CONVINCING

PanARMENIAN.Net - Foreign Minister of Nagorno Karabakh Republic Naira Melkumian stated at a press conference held in Yerevan today that the pressure put by the Council of Europe on Azerbaijan in connection with existence of political prisoners in the country is in general favorable for Nagorno Karabakh. In her words, the influential international organization at last paid attention to what official Stepanakert had emphasized for such a long period of time. "Azerbaijan, in which elementary civil rights of the Azeris are infringed, will never be able to guarantee security of the Armenian population of Nagorno Karabakh," - Naira Melkumian stated. At the same time the head of NKR foreign department noted that the unstable domestic situation in Azerbaijan, which was observed in connection with pressure by the Council of Europe was dangerous for NKR, as it hampered the negotiation process development. The Minister considers that in case of expelling Azerbaijan from CE the probability of resumption of hostilities will not increase. "Azeri party is not ready for war," - Naira Melkumian stated.
