GEORGIA INCREASED ENERGY VOLUME IMPORTED FROM ARMENIA BECAUSE OF THERMOELECTRIC POWER STATION EXPLOSION
Because of the explosion of the 10 block of Gardaban thermoelectric power station that supplied Tbilisi's half with energy, Georgia's President Eduard Shevarnadze has declared a state of emergency in the country's energy system. The country's head called the plant failure a tragedy for the country. Shevardnadze considers possible that the explosion is a result of diversion though, according to his words, the experts mainly think the cause of the catastrophe was the failures of the operating practices. Due to occurrence, a decision to increase the energy import volume from Russia and Armenia has been made.
