Arpine Kalinina: Armenian composer school in deadlock

Armenian composer school is in deadlock, as young composers have no opportunity to present their works, according to Arpine Kalinina, creative director of Kantegh band.

“Problems emerge when we start searching for a concert hall. The Armenian Ministry of Culture supports us sometimes, but mostly we have to settle problems ourselves. In Estonia, for example, conservatory students give four concerts per year while we are lucky to have one,” Ms. Kalinina said.

Violin player Lusine Harutyunyan said, for her part, “Young talents are not appreciated as long as they create in Armenia.”
