Armenia may dictate standards in the region


“The world is no longer unidirectional, and developing countries (China, India) no longer depend on one economic center,” RA Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan addressed 7th international economic forum Bridge in Tsakhkadzor on February 20.

According to the minister, the effective governance helped to mitigate the impact of the global crises on the Armenian economy. As he mentioned, Armenia should set its goals and priorities for effective development.

Besides, Nerses Yeritsyan said, that the war on moving capital and markets would star now all over the world. “The world moves from West to East and, if Armenia properly evaluates the situation, if Armenia properly evaluates the situation, it can make use of new opportunities.
Thus, we need to change the scale of our economy and our approaches, involving outside resources,” he said.

Large-scale programs on road construction, telecommunications are starting this year, All-Armenian bank will be founded to boost the economy, he said.

The minister stressed the need to grow Armenian exports and expand their geography, especially in EU countries. “Armenia will continue to improve its business environment, attract investments and diversify the economy,” he promised.

“Corporative governance, pension fund and insurance system should be developed furthermore. Armenia may dictate standards in the region,” Nerses Yeritsyan concluded.
