Israeli president ridiculed in Istanbul

Strained relations between Turkey and Israel are going beyond diplomatic protocol and elementary courtesy.

A huge poster showing Israel's president Shimon Peres, bowing to the Turkish prime minister Tayyip Erdogan was hung from an Istanbul crane Sunday.

The Turkish Prime Minister was supposed to visit the district to participate in a new road opening ceremony. The poster has been taken off before his arrival.

Turkish newspapers state that the poster reflected the Turks' reaction to the public humiliation of the Turkish Ambassador in Tel Aviv, when the Danny Ayalon, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, offered him to sit at a low armchair, as MIGnews reported.
