CONSIDERATION OF SANCTIONS AGAINST AZERBAIJAN POSSIBLE IN CONCILIATORY COMMITTEE OF THE HOUSES
According to the information of the Secretary of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Washington Taira Tagizade, the conciliatory committee of the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives will hear the question of giving the President the authority to waive the sanctions against Azerbaijan. This question was included in the agenda of the session planned for November 1, but the consideration of the bill passed by the Senate October 25 was postponed. Armenian lobbyist organizations of America make efforts that, as a result of a compromise between the Senators and the Representatives, the bill language to include items more strictly determining the conditions, that the President has to observe before exercising the authority to make a decision to waive Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act. According to the regulations, after the conciliatory commission has made a concrete decision, the matter should be passed to consideration by the common meeting of the committee.
