NKR National Assembly speaker, leader of the Democratic Party of Artsakh Ashot Ghulyan said he voted for a “more professional parliament”.

“The presence of international observers is a positive factor which ensures transparency of the elections,” Mr. Ghulyan told journalists in Stepanakert. “I am hopeful that the assessments given by them will promote international recognition of our republic.”

Asked by a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter what measures should be taken for the purpose, he said that parliamentary hearings on the problem must be continued. “The NKR National Assembly has established contacts with the parliaments of France, Germany and Russia, as well as with the U.S. Congress. And we are going to expand these ties,” Mr. Ghulyan said.

As to statements made by Azeri officials, he said that “it’s high time for Azerbaijan to understand that the Artsakh Republic NKR settles all issues independently since 1991”.
