Commenting on Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s recent statement that Moscow is not going to substitute for parties to the Karabakh conflict, Mehrabyan said that Russia’s stance in this issue is conditioned by its national interests in the region. Russia is controlling the region through the Karabakh conflict, Mehrabyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. He added that the Karabakh conflict is a universal instrument, which allows Russia to control Azerbaijan. According to Mehrabyan, the current status-quo secures stability in the region, and Russia will not shake it.
