Vahan Hovhannisyan: Karabakh talks basic principles should be put on referendum

PanARMENIAN.Net - The basic principles of Karabakh talks should be put on referendum, said Vahan Hovhannisyan, head of ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary group.

As to the statement issued by the Presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chair countries, he noted that the succession of its provisions envisages the succession of actions in the settlement process.

“Otherwise, the statement should have mentioned simultaneous implementation of provisions. But even in this case, ARFD would be against these principles, as the status of Karabakh should be decided prior to discussion of territorial issues,” Hovhannisyan said.

Asked what expectation ARFD has for the forthcoming Nalbandian-Mammadyarov meeting, he said there are no specific expectations as “the sides are speaking different languages.”
