Armenian goalball clubs conduct joint trainings with Russia’s champion

Korolyov goalball club, Russia’s 2010 champion, arrived in Armenia on the invitation of the RA Disabled Sports Federation to conduct joint trainings with four Armenian clubs - Artsivner (Yerevan), Shirak (Gyumri), Kaytsak (Etchmiadzin) and Aryutsner (Abovyan.)

The trainings are aimed at forming Armenia’s national team, which will participate in an international tournament in Iran on July 29-August 3, the RA Disabled Sports Federation told PanARMENIAN.Net.

Goalball is a team sport designed for blind athletes. Participants compete in teams of three, and try to throw a ball that has bells embedded in it into the opponents' goal. They must use the sound of the bell to judge the position and movement of the ball. Blindfolds allow partially sighted players to compete on an equal footing with blind players.
