Sergei Shakaryants links CSTO summit to Bushehr plant launch

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia-related goals pursued by our foreign partners will most probably be revealed by September, according to political expert Sergei Shakaryants.

“The oncoming informal CSTO summit in Yerevan aims at planning joint actions of member states. This is a chance for Armenia to remind countries, wishing to play a war, of having a possibility to receive military and technical aid as CSTO member, as well as to gain other necessary privileges in the framework of bilateral relations,” the expert told a news conference in Yerevan.

Linking CSTO summit to Bushehr nuclear plant launch, Shakaryants supposed that the plant startup may cause tensions in the region. “However, Armenia’s close allies, Russia and Iran, will coordinate their actions,” he said.

As the expert noted, Armenia’s allies aim to reconstruct the South Caucasus in their own way, setting a specific place for Armenia.

“Armenia must gain control of its own fate. The country’s institutions and organizations must combine efforts in achieving this goal,” Shakaryants concluded.
