GOVERNMENT INTENDS TO CALL A SPECIAL MEETING OF "ARMENTEL" COMPANY COUNCIL OF DIRECTORS
Before September 1 the Government of Armenia intends to call a special meeting of Council of Directors of "ArmenTel" Company for preventing introduction of payment by the minute. As it is known, the company is the telecommunication monopolist of the county. As reported by "Arka" agency, today RA Minister of Transport and Communication Andranik Manukian stated this at the meeting of interim parliamentary commission studying Armenian Government's activity in the field of communication. In the words of Chairman of the commission Vazgen Manukian, introduction of payment by the minute for telephone calls since September 1 is contrary to Armenian legislation and "ArmenTel" Company license.
Let us note that according to "ArmenTel" schedule, since September 1, 2001 tariffs for talk exceeding the limit (120 minutes a month) will make 4 drams per minute, and this index will gradually increase in course of two years up to 8 drams. User payment will remain 900 drams a month.
