Forbes: Armenia is 96th among best countries for businessSeptember 9, 2010 - 10:41 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Forbes magazine has published its list of Best Countries for Business, according to which Armenia is the 96th against 94th in 2009. The ranking included 129 countries with consideration of the following indexes: GDP growth, GDP/capita, trade balance, population, etc. According to Forbes, Armenia’s is the 108th, 107th, 106th, 95th and 17th by its indices of tax burden, innovation, property rights, corruption and red tape respectively. Former USSR countries are ranked by Forbes as follows: Lithuania – 32nds, Latvia – 41st, Georgia – 61st, Kazakhstan – 72nd, Azerbaijan – 79th, Russia – 97th, Ukraine – 98th, Kyrgyzstan – 106th, Tajikistan – 121st. Denmark tops the ranking, followed by Hong Kong and New Zealand. Meanwhile, Chad, Zimbabwe and Venezuela bottom the list. The U.S. has stepped down to the 9th place, what is explained by deterioration of the business climate for entrepreneurs and investors in the U.S., as well as increase in the tax burden.
