Georgia unaware who ordered to close Upper Lars

The number of Armenian vehicles stuck at Georgia’s Upper Lars checkpoint has reached 15.

As a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter was told in the RA Ministry of Agriculture, 5 of them are loaded with Jermuk mineral water.

According to the source, the Ministry was dealing with the issue first, then it was reported to the Tax Service, Prime Minister and finally the President.

Meanwhile, Georgia can’t give an exact answer: lower officials cite command from above while the top circles say they didn’t issue such an order.

Earlier, 10 Armenian trucks with Russia-bound grapes were reported to have been kept at the checkpoint.

As PanARMENIAN.Net came to know from diplomatic sources, the reasons of detainment of the Armenian cargo are being clarified.

Some informed sources say that Georgia closed the checkpoint in revenge to Armenia's voting against its resolution in the UN. Some say that the checkpoint was blocked at request of Turkey, which wants to oust Armenian grapes from the Russian market.
