Richard Giragosian: war in Karabakh to burst out unexpectedly

A new war in Karabakh conflict zone will burst out unexpectedly, according to an Armenian expert.

Richard Giragosian, director of the Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS), said that Baku will not declare war and hostilities will start with a regular incident at the line of contact.

He predicted that Azerbaijan will lose this war, like Georgia did in August 2008.

Commenting on the reaction of the OSCE Minsk Group to the recent armed incidents, Giragosian said Azerbaijan doesn’t eye the internationals mediators as a threat.

“Currently, the MG mediators are exerting efforts for ceasefire maintenance,” he said.
