Franklin D. Roosevelt is ideological ally of Karabakh people, Advisor to NKR Foreign Minister says

On September 23, 2010, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in his address to the 65th session of the UN General Assembly that Armenia “prefers to aggravate the situation and cause unpredictable consequences.”

Advisor to the NKR Foreign Minister Ruben Zargaryan said that similar public statements of the Azerbaijani President distort the unbiased attitude towards Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia, their constructive stance aimed at finding mechanisms for the Karabakh conflict political and diplomatic settlement.

“Instead of making fruitless and irresponsible rhetoric, Azerbaijan ought to recognize NKR and take certain constructive steps for the soonest resolution of the conflict, what has been urged by NKR and the OSCE Minsk Group for a long time,” Zargaryan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

Zargaryan noted that UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said he supports the offer on withdrawal of snipers from the frontline. However, Baku’s administration categorically rejects this offer. Azerbaijan steadily does not want to sign legally binding agreements with NKR on non-use of force.

“NKR is ready for dialogue, but Baku aggressively questions NKR’s independence and territorial integrity. The law principles – equality and justice, people’s right to self-determination and human rights based on these principles – have been jeopardized. Franklin Roosevelt, a founder of the UN, stressed that fair world is possible only as a unification of free nations. And this stance is supported by NKR. One can say that Roosevelt was our military ally during the World War II, while currently he is an ideological ally of the Karabakh people,” Zargaryan concluded.
