President of the Armenian Association of Astronomers Areg Mikaelyan told journalists that the center is envisaged to be created by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) as part of a 10-year program on strategic development of astronomy.

The program will be implemented through 8 regional centers worldwide. In addition to Armenia, seven countries of the region participate in the competition. The competition results will be announced in a couple of months.
