Involvement of Syrian special services in blocking PanARMENIAN.Net website in the country can’t be ruled out

PanARMENIAN.Net editorial staff continues investigating into the reasons behind long-term malfunctioning of www.panarmenian.net website in Syria.

As a Syrian user, who preferred to keep his identity secret, told PanARMENIAN.Net, his attempts to load the website have failed since September 21.

“At present, www.panarmenian.net is still not loading, reporting an error "Network Error (tcp_error). Operation timed out". This is what leads Syrian users to believe that technical issues are to blame for malfunctioning of the website, which will load as soon as they’re solved,” the source said. “Involvement of Syrian special services in the issue can’t be ruled out. The website of the Honorary Consulate of Armenia in Der-Dzor would not work for 1,5 months before Azeri hacker attack was discovered.”

At present, Syrian users manage to access www.panarmenian.net only through anonymous proxy-servers.

“Many social websites such as Facebook, YouTube and others have been blocked in Syria,” the user told PanARMENIAN.Net.

As a PanARMENIAN.Net was reported earlier, www.panarmenian.net has for a long period been unavailable in the territory of Syria. PanARMENIAN.Net-conducted study of the resource statistics revealed that after April 24, 2010 (Genocide commemoration day) statistical system reported zero website visits in Syria.

PanARMENIAN.Net editorial staff continues to research into the reason behind the malfunctioning of the resource in Syria over the last months.
