Nalbandian advances to Swiss Indoors quarterfinals

David Nalbandian has upset sixth-seeded Marin Cilic 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Swiss Indoors.

The 29th-ranked Argentine mixed accurate serving and strong groundstrokes Nov. 4, clinching on his first match point with a powerful forehand from the baseline.

Nalbandian improved to 3-0 against Cilic, including a semifinal victory in Washington in August.

Nalbandian advanced to face fourth-seeded Andy Roddick of the United States or Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan.

Also, Czech wild card Radek Stepanek earned a quarterfinal match against Roger Federer by beating Santiago Giraldo of Colombia 3-6, 6-2, 6-0, AP reported.
