Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude to his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev for his active participation in negotiations on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement.

“Our meetings are of regular nature, we have the opportunity to discuss our relations in detail,” Aliyev said, adding that personal participation of the Russian President in the conflict resolution plays an important and positive role.

“Hopefully, we will manage to record a progress in the process and ensure peace and security in the region,” the Azerbaijani President said.

Aliyev noted that the conflict resolution is possible only based on norms and principles of the international law, resolutions of international organizations, as well as principles reflected in international declarations, RIA Novosti reported.
