Mahmoud al-Abrash describes Armenian-Syrian relations as historic and close

Speaker of the People's Assembly Mahmoud al-Abrash affirmed that relations between Syria and Armenia are historic and close, and that both countries are working to develop them in all fields.

During his reception of Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan and the accompanying delegation at Damascus International Airport, al-Abrash said that the visit comes in the framework of strengthening relations between the two countries.

Al-Abrash added that the visit will include singing a cooperation protocol between the two parliaments and talks on boosting Syrian-Armenian parliamentary and international relations.

For his part, Abrahamyan said that political and economic relations between the two countries are on a very high level, voicing confidence that the visit will help boslter them further to even higher levels.

Abrahamyan pointed out to the importance of memo of understanding which will be signed on November 23 with the People's Assembly, lauding Syria's stances and support for Armenia in several causes and its assistance to the Armenian people, ISIRA reported.
