Aram Manukyan: intensive preparations suggest serious developments at Astana summit

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian National Movement (ANN) leader Aram Manukyan commented on recent statement of Azeri President Ilham Aliyev, who noted in a conversation with U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs William Burns that Russian Prime Minister’s position on Karabakh issue radically differs from that of President Medvedev.

“I believe, Russian President and Prime Minister have rather similar positions on the issue,” he told PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

Dwelling on the possible influence of U.S. State Department documents’ declassification on OSCE summit in Astana, Manukyan said, “intensive preparations suggest serious developments at the summit.”

In reply to PanARMENIAN.Net reporter’s question whether Russian authorities will demand Aliyev to provide any explanations concerning his recent statement, ANN leader said, “Aliyev’s statements have been endorsed in advance, Russia’s relations with Azerbaijan currently being in a better state than those with Armenia.”

On Sunday, November 28, Wikileaks website made public over 250,000 classified U.S diplomatic cables.
