WikiLeaks: Georgia had not been planning any military actions against South Ossetia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia Nino Kalandadze commented upon the information published by WikiLeaks website authors.

According to Georgian MFA representative, the data provided by WikiLeaks cannot so far be called reliable. Besides, Kalandadze is sure that the statements relating to the “force methods” used by Russian authorities in the governing process correspond to facts. “Being an official party, we cannot say whether this information can be trusted, though the main idea and the fact that Russia's current authorities are acting via power-wielding structures and that its policy and actions are determined by former KGB and today's FSS officers is no secret,” Kalandadze said.

“No one in the world has got any doubts as to whether this data quadrates to facts, though we do not know if the source may be trusted,” she added.

On November 28, the WikiLeaks website published another portion of secret American documents mostly telling about the secret diplomatic negotiations. The portal revealed over 250 thousand letters of the American diplomats. The correspondence contains data on the US foreign policy in respect of many countries, corruption and characteristics of the world leaders.

It its turn, Rustavi-2 TV channel reported that these secret documents include American diplomats' reports on Georgia. Some of them are related to the events of August 2008 in South Ossetia. It is noted that according to the documents published, Georgia had not been planning any military actions against the republic, Georgia Times reported.
