Shavarsh Kocharyan: Armenia does not accept of a war, yet, in case of necessity, will adequately respond to rival’s actions

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan President’s reaction at OSCE summit in Astana suggests Baku will retain its position on Karabakh conflict settlement, according to Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan.

“Right after the joint statement of OSCE MG co-chairs, Azerbaijan attempted to speak from the position of force, declaring its right to resume hostilities should the peaceful settlement of conflict yield no results,” Kocharyan noted.

“The declaration above suggests Baku’s unwillingness to normalize the conflict. Conditions laid down by the Azeri side are unacceptable to Armenia. Mutual concessions are possible, yet one-sided ones are not,” he stressed.

As Kocharyan observed, all OSCE MG co-chairs, as well as the Armenian President, ruled out the military settlement of the conflict. “Yet, in case of necessity, Armenia will adequately respond to rival’s actions,” he stressed.

“What does Azerbaijan hope for? I believe, the country does not need the conflict to be settled, the issue being the only source of its destructive ideology. Unfortunately, to confirm Azerbaijanis’ national identity, the country’s authorities chose anti-Armenian propaganda as the single possible way,” Kocharyan emphasized.
