Ambassador Holbrooke was one of the top-ranking American diplomats and a true champion of peace, who negotiated peace in Bosnia. On January 22, 2009, Holbrooke was appointed as a special adviser on Pakistan and Afghanistan, working under President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He served until his death on December 13, 2010.
