Phased plan for Karabakh settlement the only way to resolve conflict, Baku insists

Azerbaijani political expert Eldar Namazov summarized the results of the year 2010 in the context of Karabakh conflict.

“Unfortunately, the year 2010 was full of unjustified hopes, with Astana summit confirming our worst misgivings. If international community is willing to curb the increase of tensions and threat of regional war, a peace agreement based on phased plan for settlement should be drawn based on OSCE MG Co-chairs' suggestion,” the expert said.

“I don’t think there’s any other way to conflict settlement, with any version of package option being unacceptable to either of the parties. Moreover, Azerbaijan will never agree to a document stipulating the independence of Karabakh,” Day.Az cited Namazov as saying.
