Dioxin epidemic doesn’t threaten Armenia

The European Commission considers the ban on import of agricultural products from Germany by other countries to be an “inadequate reaction.”

According to European officials, dioxin contaminated products do not pose a threat to consumers. According to the European Commission, the dioxin scandal should not lead to a ban on animal products import from Germany.

“It is an inadequate reaction,” Deutsche Welle quoted a spokesperson for the EU Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy as saying in Brussels.

Armenia imports neither chicken nor eggs from Germany, thus, the “dioxin epidemic” does not threaten the republic, according to the RA Ministry of Agriculture.

Based on results of studies, dioxin causes various illnesses, including cancer and sterility.
