Educational Foundation of Artsakh looks for partners to provide Karabakh schools with Internet

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director of the Educational Foundation of Artsakh Vladimir Grigoryan said that the foundation is looking for partners to provide schools of Karabakh with Internet.

According to data of the NKR Ministry of Education, 30 schools of the republic are provided with Internet.

Meanwhile, Grigoryan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that the quality of Internet communication is far from being perfect, as Dial-up technology is used there for connection.

According to him, the foundation can use two sets of satellite equipment for this purpose, what will allow providing at least 30 villages of Artsakh with Internet communication with a connection speed of 256KB/s and unlimited traffic.

“We offered the NKR Ministry of Science and Education to partially cover the expenses for schools provision with Internet. However, according to the Minister of Education, similar expenditures are not envisaged under the Ministry’s budget for 2011,” said Grigoryan.

The project, which includes 30 villages, is estimated to cost $50,000. “The project envisages transfer to self-financing within two years, due to provision of paid Internet services to Artsakh’s population. Thus, it will be possible to expand the coverage zone through providing paid Internet to population and free of charge - to schools,” concluded Grigoryan.
