ECRI to publish reports on xenophobia problems in Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Serbia

In June 2011, European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) will publish reports on Azerbaijan, Cyprus and Serbia.

ECRI’s Statute provides that it should consist of members “with a high moral authority and recognised expertise in dealing with racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, antisemitism and intolerance”. Each Member State of the Council of Europe has the right to appoint one ECRI member and has the legal duty to appoint an independent and impartial member.

CRI is the Council of Europe’s independent human rights monitoring body specialised in combating racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, antisemitism and intolerance. ECRI's action covers all measures needed to combat violence, discrimination and prejudice against persons or groups of persons on the grounds of their race, colour, language, religion, nationality or national or ethnic origin.
