PACE states rise of violence against Christians in Middle East

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) heard a report entitled Violence against Christians in Middle East submitted by and Italian MP Luca Volonte.

“In 2010, the number of attacks on Christian communities rose worldwide along with cases of prosecution and dead sentence, often involving women. The data on observation of religious freedom points out the majority of religious violence cases were aimed against Christians,” the resolution based on report results said.

“Discrimination is practiced throughout the region, with instances of cruel violence to Christians abounding in certain states. At the same time, state authorities in some Muslim countries are not accurate in their reports of religions communities, residing in the territory of those countries,” the resolution stated, according to Interfax.ru.
