2010 World and European champion Ashot Danielyan got off to a successful start, making it to Kazakhstan-hosted International Sambo Festival finals.

However, the back injury prevented the Armenian sambo wrestler from winning gold. In the finals, Danielyan lost to Uali Kuzhev of Russia to grab the silver medal.

Presently, Armenian sambo wrestlers are at team practice session in Tsaghkadzor to prepare for the next stage of World Cup due in February in Belarus.
