Iran slams West for double standards in nations’ right to self-determination

Official Tehran supports the right of nations to self-determination, at the same time disagreeing with double standards practiced by West, according to Iranian ambassador to Armenia.

“The principle usually prevails over others,” Seyed Ali Saghaeyan stated, citing South Sudan’s self-determination as an example.

“However, in many cases, double standards are applied. U.S. refusal to acknowledge Hamas victory in Gaza Strip elections is a vivid proof,” the ambassador noted, urging for single standards where the nations’ right to self-determination is concerned.
