Aivazovsky's grave to be rehabilitated

In March, Ivan Aivazovsky National Art Gallery will send seven masterpieces of the marine painter to a large exhibition in Austria. The canvases have been insured for 9.8mln euros, Kafa paper quoted Art Gallery Director Tatyana Gaiduk as saying.

According to Gaiduk, 25,000 euros will be received due to the exhibition of the seven paintings by Aivazovsky, which will be spent for the painter's grave rehabilitation.

Vienna will host the exhibition from March 17 to July.

"This is a large-scale exhibition of Aivazovsky, which will bring together many museums of the post-Soviet countries," Gaiduk said, adding that three Ukrainian museums, as well as the State Tretyakov Gallery and Russian Museum of Saint Petersburg will participate in the exhibition.

The grave of Ivan Aivazovsky is located in the yard of St. Sargis Armenian Church in Feodosiya (Ukraine), where the painter was buried in 1900, analitika.at.ua reported.
