Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that the course of history could not be reversed in the Middle East, adding that recent developments in the region led to onset of a historic transition process.

In a televised interview with the CNN-Turk News Channel, Davutoglu said, "what is critical for the time being is to prevent recent process in the Middle East from causing instability. Each country and each society experience similar things. Now, Egypt has been passing through a transition process. We hope that the Egyptian army will well handle this process and withdraw from power after ensuring democracy in the country."

Asked about Iran, Davutoglu said that it was not correct to compare Iran with Egypt, adding, "Iran has a more dynamic political structure with rivalry between opposite groups. While Hosni Mubarak had ruled Egypt for the last three decades, Iran changed five presidents."
