Russia is not going to mediate Armenian-Turkish normalization, source says

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russia not going to mediate the Armenian-Turkish normalization.

As Russian diplomatic source told PanARMENIAN.Net “there are Protocols envisaging normalization of relations between the two countries and Russia’s representative was present at the signing ceremony in Zurich.”

“Official Moscow numerously said that the only way to normalize relations between Yerevan and Ankara is ratification of Protocols,” the source said.

Earlier, some media spread information that Deputy Foreign Ministers of Russia and Turkey discussed possibility of a meeting between Armenian and Turkish diplomats. According to reports, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin was in Yerevan lately to discuss the issue with the Armenian side.

The same reason is believed to be behind U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg’s visit to Armenia.
