Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan issued a congratulatory address in connection with the Motherland Defender's Day.

“On behalf of the republic's authorities and myself I cordially congratulate you on the Motherland Defender’s Day.

The 23rd of February is marked in Artsakh as a nationwide holiday because our whole nation has united for the defense of our motherland, heroically confronted the enemy’s assaults and at the expense of their sons’ blood gained the right to live freely and independently on their own land. The memory of the devoted sons of our Motherland will always remain bright in memory of the generations to come.

Today, the army is considered the main guarantor of the independence and security of Artsakh as well as the pride of our people. Having high fighting spirit and preparedness the NKR armed forces play an important role in maintaining peace and stability in the region too. For this very reason we should do everything possible for continuous strengthening the defense capacity of our country, raising the fighting efficiency of the army, securing logistical support corresponding to the modern standards and always keeping high the spirit of Motherland’s soldier. The issues of the army will continue to be in the spotlight of the authorities.

I once again congratulate the personnel of the Defense Army, veterans of the Great Patriotic and Artsakh Liberation wars on this glorious holiday and wish robust health, happiness, peaceful and prosperous life.”
