83% of cars already insured in Armenia

Executive Director of the Bureau of Motor Vehicle Insurers of Armenia Vahan Avetisyan said that 83% of vehicles have been already insured in Armenia, 3% of cars - have been deregistered, while 14% of cars - have not been insured.

During a press conference in Yerevan, Avetisyan expressed hope that 90% of vehicles will be insured in Armenia soon, what is a good index for the mandatory vehicle insurance compared to other countries of the world. "It proves that our citizens are law-abiding," he said.

As for machinations among drivers for obtainment of greater compensation, Avetisyan warned dishonest drivers against it, as they will be deprived of the opportunity to use the reward system – bonus-malus – that will be introduced in 2013 and envisages decrease in the cost of insurance policy for drivers with long and safe driving record.
