Armenian NA adopts bill on amendments to Electoral Code

On March 24, with a 70-0 vote and 1 abstention, the Armenian National Assembly adopted the coalition-proposed legislative package on making amendments to the RA Electoral Code. At the same time the parliament voted down the opposition’s bill supposing amendments to the Code.

Coalition representatives and opposition parliamentary groups made legislative offers to reform the Electoral Code. The Armenian government recognized both as alternative.

Under the law, the bill approved by the parliament will serve as a basis for the further work.

Earlier, the head of the RA parliamentary commission for state and legal affairs, co-author of legislative amendments David Harutyunyan said that the bill was sent to the Venice Commission for an expert conclusion due mid-April.
