Coach pleased with Armenian wrestlers’ performance at European Championships

Chief Coach of Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestling team, Olympic champion Levon Julfalakyan said he is pleased with the performance of Armenian wrestlers, who returned with medals from the European Championships.

Armenia’s team won 4 medals in Dortmund. Specifically, Olympic Games bronze winner, World Championship silver winner Roman Amoyan (55kg) won champion’s title; winner of world and European youth championships Arthur Alexanyan (96kg) won silver.

Besides, Arthur Shahinyan (84kg) and Olympic Games bronze winner, World Championship silver winner and European Championship repeat winner Yuri Patrikeev (120kg) won bronze.

“Amoyan once again proved he is a strong and reliable wrestler. I expected a better result from World Championship silver winner Arsen Julfalakyan (74kg), but he had injuries and was not in a good shape. I am glad that he managed to reach the fight for the third place, though he was defeated in it. Patrikeev also could achieve a better result, but failed this time,” Levon Julfalakyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

Armenia’s Greco-Roman wrestling team will launch trainings on May 4 in Tsaghkadzor resort to get prepared for various international tournaments.
