Deputy FM reminds of Azerbaijan’s failure to implement UN Security Council resolutionsApril 11, 2011 - 20:33 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan commented on the statement of Azerbaijani President that none of UN Security Council-adopted resolutions on Karabakh have been implemented. “To contribute to Karabakh conflict settlement, Azerbaijan must stop accusing the international community, abandon the idea of a new war and accept the Karabakh people’s right for self-determination,” he said. “The insincere surprise of Mr. Aliyev cannot conceal the fact that in reply to UN Security Council resolutions urging to stop hostilities in 1993, Azerbaijan refused to fulfill them. Further, having failed to succeed in a military venture, Azerbaijan was forced to address Karabakh side with a request to establish ceasefire,” the Deputy Minister reminded. Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that the UN Security Council adopted four resolutions on Nagorno Karabakh, but none of them has been implemented. In an interview with Rossiya-24 TV channel, Aliyev said: “When we see that implementation of the UN Security Council’s resolutions on Libya starts in several hours after their adoption, while resolutions on Nagorno Karabakh are not implemented for 17-18 years, naturally, we wonder why. What is the reason behind such promptness in one case and such passivity in our case?” Top stories President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova.
