Russia can contribute to signing of peace agreement on Karabakh, Azeri MP says

Azerbaijani parliament member Zahid Oruj believes that Russia is interested in the Karabakh conflict settlement.

“Russia’s activity may lead to signing of the so-called big peace agreement on Karabakh,” Oruj said, commenting on Russia’s intention to organize a new meeting between the Azerbaijani and Armenian Foreign Minister to prepare another round of negotiations between the countries’ Presidents.

“Moscow conceives that resumption of hostilities becomes inevitable under the current conditions, given the expansion of Azerbaijan’s military might. Thus, Russia wants to achieve a progress in the negotiation process. Otherwise, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev would not have organized meetings between the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents since 2008 just for his reputation,” Interfax quoted Oruj as saying.
