ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTER IS PLEASED WITH RESULTS OF HIS VISIT TO IRAQ
YEREVAN, February 27. /Mediamax/. Summing up the visit of the Armenian delegation to Iraq, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Vardan Oskanian said that perspectives of development of bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries were discussed in Baghdad.
In particular, the Foreign minister said, it isn't excluded that Armenian companies will take part in the realization of energy projects in Iraq. Oskanian named perspective the preliminary results of Baghdad meetings of Armenian businessmen.
Commenting on his meeting with the representatives of the Armenian community of Baghdad, Minister Oskanian said that the Armenian residents in Iraq, as the rest of the population of the country, suffer from sanctions entered by the UN. According to Oskanian, the Armenian population of Iraq is in need of Armenia's support, including the moral one. Noting that talks on revising UN economic sanctions against Iraq are being held at present, the Armenian minister voiced his hope that they will have a positive outcome. This, in this opinion, will have positive influence on the welfare of the Iraqi people and the Armenian community of the country, as well as will promote the development of Armenian-Iraqi relations.
The Armenian delegation, headed by Foreign Minister of Armenia Vardan Oskanian, was in Iraq on Feb. 25-26 on a working visit, during which the ceremony of the opening of Armenian embassy in Baghdad took place. --0--
