Armenian MP: President not to dissolve parliamentApril 26, 2011 - 12:48 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Vice-Chairman of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Razmik Zohrabyan said that President Serzh Sargsyan is not going to dissolve the National Assembly. “Armenia goes towards regular elections,” he said. “The authorities’ current dialogue with the opposition, specifically, the Armenian National Congress is aimed at civil society development in the country,” Zohrabyan told a press conference in Yerevan. As for Sargsyan’s statements that the March 1, 2008, events should be revealed, according to Zohrabyan, the authorities perform their duties, but not the ANC demands. He also refuted rumors that Sargsyan’s cooperation with Levon Ter-Petrossian is aimed against Robert Kocharian. Zohrabyan also explained to a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter why other political forces treat the authorities’ dialogue with the ANC as a deal. “Armenian people are not accustomed to witness a process of political problems resolution via a dialogue,” he said. As for the abrupt change in ANC strategy, Zohrabyan said it is conditioned by cooperation of the authorities and ANC with European institutions, which, as he emphasized, do not see the necessity of holding pre-term elections in the country.
