Large-diameter pipe plant opens in Armenia April 27, 2011 - 10:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The first-ever in South Caucasus large-diameter pipe plant opened in Armavir province of Armenia on April 27. “Large-diameter pipes have not been imported since 1990 while Armenia needs 80-120 km of such pipes annually,” Polimer Trub LLC director Arshak Nalbandyan told journalists. “The feedstock is brought from the Saudi Arabia and UAE. The pipes will be used for the hydropower plants, irrigation, sewage and construction works. The plant will employ 32 specialists and 12 technicians with an average monthly salary of AMD 200000.” Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended the opening ceremony accompanied by Armavir province governor Ashot Ghahramanyan and Central Bank chairman Arthur Javadyan. Polimer Trub LLC was founded by Syrian Armenians Suren and Arpin Vartanian. The construction of the plant started in 2009. Investments totaled US$5.8mln.
