Armenian villages face catastrophic situation, according to ANC

Member of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Hrant Bagratyan said that living conditions in Libya, where a revolution took place, had been five times better compared to Armenia.

“Imagine our people’s patience,” Bagratyan told the April 28 ANC rally in Yerevan. He noted that ANC representatives visited Armenian villages, which currently face a catastrophic situation.

According to Bagratyan, 60% of lands in Shamshadin region are not cultivated. He noted that the amendments to the Land Code in 2004 during Robert Kocharian’s tenure have caused all the problems. They provided officials and oligarchs with the opportunity to buy land plots in villages and administer large farms, while small farms cannot compete with them, concluded Bagratyan.
