Unsettled Karabakh conflict boosts possibility of new war

The longer Nagorno Karabakh issue persists in current state, the higher is the possibility for resumption of hostilities, according to the director of Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS).

As Manvel Sargsyan stated at a discussion titled “Karabakh Issue in Armenia and International Scene: New Situation, Old Approaches”, Armenia and Karabakh put their full trust in OSCE Minsk Group to settle the conflict, refraining from a national policy to that end.

“Clearly, Azerbaijan disagrees with current realities, believing itself to have lost part of its territories. Azerbaijan understands that recognition of Karabakh independence would mean failure of its current policy,” the expert said, adding that the inability of the international community to dissuade Azerbaijan from a military course is dangerous.
